New York City Event Photographer Joe Jenkins

You need a photographer. And you need the best available.

event photography for nyc and beyond.

corporate events, birthday parties, mitzvahs, and all other occasion photography, you’ve come across imagery that stands out

finally

It all begins with your idea, but I’m going to assume it revolves around an event.

Maybe you want to throw a soiree for your colleague in NYC and need an event photographer. Maybe your colleague will be so grateful for the thought that he/she will then turn around and throw a massive thank you bash for you in return. Maybe your altogether other colleague wants to celebrate their recent addition to the employee of the month club with a massive 2000 person gala (probably overkill). Maybe none of the above is correct and you’re all working in unison to plan a huge conference that you need someone to shoot.

Why you need a Professional Event Photographer , and one that shoots in a way that mixes photojournalism with serious portraiture.

Events in New York City are serious business. The people that attend them have high expectations and the people that plan them spend a lot of time doing so. And even afterwards, your job still isn’t over. You need to showcase how successful your event was - and only a good event photographer can do so.

3-5 Business day turnaround

And so, whatever the case may be, in New York City, no private event would be complete without a professional photographer (that’s just how NYC rolls…and yes I’m serious), no conference goes unattended without a guy running around frantically while two massive cameras swing around his/her chest like clock pendulums, and no gala would be complete without someone there to shoot it.

Fortunately, I do all of the above (I sort of enjoy running around frantically, in fact).

Conferences and Keynotes

Having shot 200+ conferences and Keynotes, they remain a specialty of mine and are events I’m strangely passionate about photographing. I say strangely because your first question is ‘can someone really be passionate about photographing a conference?’

And the answer is yes, someone can be passionate about corporate event photography, because when the people that were nice enough to hire him/her go to organize the following year’s event, a large part of their ticket sales are going to come directly from the photography of the person they hired previously.

And so I’d say that’s worth being passionate about.

Parties and Nightlife

I’ve both a really slick looking tux and a really calculatedly ripped pair of jeans; one of which I reserve for a company Gala and the other of which I keep around for your party.

In the event you hire me for your party, I fit pretty seamlessly into the New York nightlife scene and am a pretty established fashion photographer.

Evenly keeled anniversary dinner? Cool?

4am rager? Also cool.

Activations/Experientials

I’ve worked with Google, Youtube, and shot Jeff Bezos over at Amazon. I’ve tromped through the halls of Samsung while looking for an iPhone charger (sheepishly, I may add) in order to create photographs for the annual release of the Galaxy.

Either way, while my craft remains deeply personal in its touch, I’m open to and always have been able to work with some of the largest brands and companies in the world.

  • Joe's strangely good at everything. He'll photograph your event and then the next day end up at a shoot for Maxim Magazine. We've used his images countless times ands in so many different marketing scenarios.

“I’m in marketing and cannot express strongly enough how vital images are to a company’s image and brand reputation. The pictures that Joe delivers offer both of those in spades. And his flexibility is amazing. We had so many last minute changes and he just rolled right along with them.”

(FAQ) Frequently Asked Questions

  • I offer all types, and there isn’t really any area of it I haven’t done. I’d say what I most frequently get hired for, however, is as a corporate event photographer (this includes conferences, seminars, activations, fireside chats, and mixers) and private functions (anniversaries, birthday parties, general nightlife, mitzvahs, etc).

  • My rate typically hovers around $150/hr-$200+/hr, depending on the event and whether it’s private or corporate.

Editing and retouching is included in this figure, and so there won’t be an additional fee outside of the provided shoot time. Even travel I waive (I’m local to NYC and it’s not like I’m going to charge you my subway fare).

  • Anything you’d like, really. I don’t charge additional usage for marketing and promotional purposes, and so in the past my clients have chosen to use them for just that. In fact, they make excellent marketing materials.

  • I’m super inconspicuous and blend right in with the crowd. Noise is kept to a minimum and people generally never notice I’m there.

  • There are no hidden fees of any kind. My rate is generally just an hourly and, as I’m local to NYC, doesn’t involve anyt travel expenses.

  • The images are not watermarked and delivered in two ways. The first is a Dropbox link that you can use to download the full catalogue of images in it’s entirety (full-size and suitable for print), while the second is in the form of an online album that you can share with guests/family/friends. Both of these are completely private and the images will not be viewable online to the public.

  • I have really good taste, and that’s something you can’t teach or learn right away but develop over a lifetime. Don’t believe me? Check out my fashion work at https://www.josephpatrick.nyc

All photography is is someone executing their taste, and mine is miles above my competitors.

At the end of the day, I identify as an artist and I am not a technician (someone that just operates an expensive camera). And I place that identification into every photograph I take for you.

Additionally, I use Capture One to edit my event photographs; not Lightroom. If you don’t know what Capture One is, it’s the industry standard for marketing and advertising - and what studios will use when conducting imaging shoots. It offers a flexibility over RAW files that Lightroom doesn’t hold a candle to.

  • I’m currently working on streamlining the booking process by adding my calendar to this site and allowing you to simply book me direct, but for now you can either interact with me via the chat window located at the bottom-right, or by simply reaching out via email. I do request a 50% deposit for the booking, with the balance due thereafter.

  • All of the work I provide in the corporate arena is work-for-hire, and there are no additional usage fees associated with the imagery I create for your brand/company.

  • I currently use two full-frame cameras for my event work and will usually rotate around between a few different lenses. The cameras themselves are:

    Nikon D850Nikon Z7

    The lenses I use are

    Nikkor 24-70 2.8Nikkor 70-200 2.8Sigma ART 50mm 1.4Sigma ART 85mm 1.4Speedlights used (flash)

    Nikon SB_800Profoto A1

  • I’m extremely easy to work with and the booking process is super simple. Additionally, while I’ve photographed some fairly high profile events in my day, no job and no client is too small, and I treat everyone with the same level of importance. It could be a birthday party for a one year old, a birthday party for a thirty year old, or it could be a three day crypto conference (I’ve done all three).

  • I excel at (and am rather passionate about) headshots and portraiture. Right now I’m offering an in-studio LinkedIn headshot special for the obscenely low price of $145. I say obscenely low because it will be better than a headshot you'll pay $500 for. You can view the special below:

I as well maintain a separate portfolio for my work in fashion, and it can be seen at www.josephpatrick.nyc

  • Not really, but we’re still friends

  • Expedited and next day delivery are both options, but otherwise you can expect everything in around 3-5 business days.

  • Sure, and I’ve set up more headshot stations than I can currently count over the years - be it at conferences, mixers, or general networking events. You can see my headshot work over at corporate headshots nyc
